Soft Washing Matched To What Madeira Houses Are Made Of

A walk down almost any street here turns up three or four genuinely different exteriors within a block. Colonial brick, painted wood trim on a Craftsman, clean horizontal siding on a mid-century ranch. That variety is a large part of why Madeira is pleasant to walk through, and it means one setting for the whole house is the wrong approach. Painted wood loses finish under pressure, mortar joints erode, and siding that has started to chalk comes out blotchy if it is hit rather than treated.

Soft washing solves that by changing what does the cleaning. A solution is applied, given time to break down algae, mildew, and atmospheric grime, then rinsed away at low pressure. Because the chemistry does the work rather than the force, the same careful method is correct across every material on the house, and you are never choosing between a wash that is effective and a wash that is safe for a hundred-year-old mortar joint.

Worth knowing where the work actually is. Under the canopy that shades these streets, the elevations getting the least sun hold moisture longest, so the sides and rear commonly go green well before anything at the front does. Washing only what faces the road leaves a house that looks well kept from the sidewalk and neglected from the garden. On a property in this market that is a meaningful difference, and it is the reason we price the whole exterior rather than the visible half.

What Madeira Homeowners Get

  • The Whole House Reads Clean

Front, sides, and rear all get done, so the place looks cared for from the garden and the patio as well as from the street.

  • No Pressure Damage To Paint Or Mortar

Solution and a gentle rinse clean brick, painted wood, and siding without stripping finish or eroding old mortar joints.

  • Brings Back Depth In Brick And Trim

Good materials go flat under a film of algae and grime. Clearing it is what returns the contrast, the color, and the detail.

  • Plantings Looked After

Mature beds close to the foundation are pre-wet, protected while we work, and rinsed down afterward.

Our Madeira House Washing Process

Step 1

Home Exterior Evaluation

We walk the exterior, note where materials change, check paint and mortar condition, and find the shaded elevations doing the most growing.

Step 2

Soft-Wash Treatment

Cleaning solution is applied and given dwell time to break down algae, mildew, and grime so the surface releases it without force.

Step 3

Low-Pressure Rinse

The exterior is rinsed at a pressure appropriate to siding, brick, and painted trim, and landscaping is rinsed down as we go.

Step 4

Final Appearance Check

We walk the shaded elevations with you specifically, and anything still showing gets another pass before we load up.

House Washing FAQs

  • Why is the side of my house green when the front looks fine?

Shade. The elevations sitting under canopy most of the day stay damp, and algae needs moisture more than anything else. It is the single most common reason people call, and it is why we wash every side rather than the one facing the road.

  • How much does house washing cost in Madeira?

It comes down to the size of the house, the materials, and how much growth is actually on it, so we quote the property rather than quoting by square foot off a map. Estimates are free. If one elevation is the whole problem we will tell you that instead of selling you the full exterior.

  • Will pressure washing damage my brick or painted trim?

High pressure will, which is why we do not use it on either. Pressure strips paint, forces water behind trim, and erodes older mortar. Soft washing cleans chemically at low pressure and is the appropriate method for both.

  • How often should a house here be washed?

Most Madeira homes do well on about once a year, usually in spring. Houses with heavy canopy over a north elevation sometimes want that side attended to sooner than the rest, and we would rather set a realistic interval than oversell a result.

  • Will the solution hurt my landscaping?

No. Beds are pre-wet before anything is applied, protected during the work, and rinsed down afterward. On properties with established planting tight to the foundation that setup is the part we take the most time over.

"I am happy to recommend Clear Exterior. Jason was prompt in communication, reasonable in price and the before and after pictures tell the story. While I hope not to have as much dirt and moss on my walkway and roof, I will be calling Jason."

"Jason did great work on our home's driveway and front walkway. I didn't even notice just how dark some spots had gotten, especially our front steps, until he pressure washed them. I was amazed at the before and after! They look so much better now!"

"Jason did a great job with the pressure washing of my house. He first contacted me about a month ago. (I think I had clicked Angi's List or something similar.) But anyway, when he first called me, I told him I work in taxation and would not have time to think about projects until after tax season was over, and to call me after April 17. And... unlike just about every other service provider - who would call me daily... Jason called me on April 18. And we went back and forth for a few days - mostly me asking questions... until we agreed he would pressure wash the house, patio, and driveway. And then he was available within that week! And stayed a bit longer to be sure everything was done right. Plus... he's the OWNER and started the business himself - not just someone who bought a franchise. (which is important to me - I like to support local business, even more so if it's an entrepreneur and not a franchisee.) And every time I pull into my driveway, I smile"
