Paver Joint Re-Sanding And Sealing For Indian Hill

Paver work on Indian Hill properties tends to be extensive and to sit on ground that moves water. Terraces, pool surrounds, garden walks, and entry courts are often built on sloped, wooded lots where every heavy rain sends runoff across the hardscape rather than around it. That runoff is the main thing carrying joint sand away, a little at a time, season after season.

Once the joints are empty the stones lose lateral support, and the sequence is always the same. Weeds and moss root in the open gaps, pavers begin to rock underfoot, edges creep outward, and individual stones settle low. On a pool surround an uneven paver is a genuine trip hazard, not just an appearance problem.

Refilling with polymeric sand and sealing over it breaks that cycle. Polymeric sand binds once activated so it stays in the joint rather than washing out with the next storm, and a joint-stabilizing sealer locks it in while helping the pavers resist staining. Sealing over empty joints preserves the problem, which is why we assess joint depth before quoting.

Why Indian Hill Homeowners Re-Sand And Seal Pavers

  • Stands Up To Runoff On Sloped Lots

Bound joints resist the water that crosses hardscape on sloped, wooded properties and carries plain sand away.

  • Keeps Pool Surrounds Level And Safe

Full joints hold pavers against each other, which prevents the rocking and settling that makes a pool surround a trip hazard.

  • Reduces Weeds And Moss In The Joints

Open joints under tree cover collect debris and grow moss and weeds. A stabilized joint leaves them very little to root in.

  • Protects Against Staining

Sealed pavers shed leaf tannin and winter salt rather than absorbing them into the face of the stone.

Our Indian Hill Paver Sealing And Re-Sanding Process

Step 1

Clean And Clear The Joints

Pavers are cleaned at paver-safe pressure, and weeds, moss, and washed-out joint material are removed from between the stones.

Step 2

Let Everything Dry

Stones and joints both need to dry fully, and shaded terraces take longer. Sand or sealer over damp pavers will not set correctly.

Step 3

Re-Sand The Joints

Polymeric sand is swept in and worked down so each joint is filled to proper depth rather than merely topped off at the surface.

Step 4

Activate And Seal

The sand is set, then a joint-stabilizing sealer is applied evenly and coverage checked across the full area.

Paver Sealing & Re-Sanding FAQs

  • Runoff crosses my terrace every storm. Will new sand just wash out again?

Polymeric sand binds when activated, so it holds up far better than plain masonry sand. That said, if runoff is genuinely channelling across the hardscape, addressing the drainage is what makes the next re-sanding last.

  • Some pavers around the pool have sunk. Can you fix that?

Re-sanding and sealing stabilizes pavers still sitting at the right level. Stones that have genuinely settled need lifting and re-bedding first, and we will tell you plainly which situation you have rather than sealing over it.

  • Do I need both re-sanding and sealing?

On established hardscape, usually. We check joint depth first. If the joints are washed out, sealing alone locks in the problem, and if they are still full, sealing on its own may be all you need.

  • How long before the terrace can be used again?

The sealer needs time to cure, and we will give you a specific timeframe when we finish. Under heavy tree cover it tends to be a little longer than on an open patio.

"Jason did great work on our home's driveway and front walkway. I didn't even notice just how dark some spots had gotten, especially our front steps, until he pressure washed them. I was amazed at the before and after! They look so much better now!"

"Jason did a great job with the pressure washing of my house. He first contacted me about a month ago. (I think I had clicked Angi's List or something similar.) But anyway, when he first called me, I told him I work in taxation and would not have time to think about projects until after tax season was over, and to call me after April 17. And... unlike just about every other service provider - who would call me daily... Jason called me on April 18. And we went back and forth for a few days - mostly me asking questions... until we agreed he would pressure wash the house, patio, and driveway. And then he was available within that week! And stayed a bit longer to be sure everything was done right. Plus... he's the OWNER and started the business himself - not just someone who bought a franchise. (which is important to me - I like to support local business, even more so if it's an entrepreneur and not a franchisee.) And every time I pull into my driveway, I smile"
