Step 1
Assess Surfaces, Staining, And Joints
Step 1
We identify the material, locate grease, rust, and organic staining, and check joint depth before deciding on pressure.
Outdoor living spaces here are built to be used, and used spaces stain. Grease, soot, rust rings, and spills are what actually needs lifting.
Learn More About This ServicePatios on Mason properties are frequently substantial, built as proper outdoor living areas with paver surfaces, seat walls, fire pit areas, and room for a full furniture set and an outdoor kitchen. They represent genuine investment and they are built to be used heavily. Heavy use is what puts the marks on them, and that is a different problem from the shaded mossy patio of a wooded lot, needing a different approach.
The staining here is largely from living outdoors. Cooking grease spatters around the grill and soaks into unsealed pavers, ash and soot spread out from a fire pit, metal furniture feet leave rust rings where they sit through a wet season, and drinks and food spill where people actually sit. Organic material from planters adds to it. Grease in particular needs treating rather than pressure-washing, because pressure spreads oil across the surface and drives it deeper rather than lifting it.
Pavers also have to be cleaned with their joints in mind. An aggressive wand blasts joint sand out from between the stones, and a patio cleaned that way looks excellent for a couple of weeks and then starts growing weeds and shifting underfoot, because the joints holding the pavers together are gone. Cleaning at paver-safe pressure and then assessing whether the joints need refilling is the difference between maintaining a patio and quietly degrading it.
On a large outdoor living area the whole surface comes out consistent, including under furniture and around seat walls.
Cooking grease and fire pit soot are pre-treated rather than blasted, because pressure spreads oil across pavers instead of removing it.
High pressure strips joint sand and leaves a patio unstable. We clean at a pressure that does not empty the joints.
If the joints need refilling or the pavers would benefit from sealing, we say so rather than leaving you to discover it next season.

Step 2
Grease, soot, and rust marks are pre-treated so they release during cleaning rather than being driven further into the stone.
Can you get grill grease out of my pavers?
Usually a good deal of it, with proper pre-treatment. Grease soaking into unsealed pavers for several seasons has penetrated the stone and may leave a shadow. Pressure alone makes grease worse, because it spreads the oil and pushes it deeper.
Will cleaning wash out my joint sand?
Careful cleaning at the right pressure limits it considerably, which is exactly why we do not clean pavers at driveway pressure. Where joints are already depleted it will show afterward, and re-sanding is what puts that right properly.
I have rust rings from my patio furniture. Do those come out?
Usually yes, with a rust-specific treatment rather than general cleaning. They are a metal deposit rather than dirt, so ordinary washing goes around them. Felt pads or risers under the furniture feet stop them recurring.
How much does patio cleaning cost in Mason?
It follows the area and how much treatment the staining needs, and these patios are large. Estimates are free, and if you are considering sealing as well we will quote them together since the sequence matters.
Should I seal the patio afterward?
On a patio getting this much use it is worth considering, particularly around a grill or fire pit. Sealed pavers resist grease and food staining far better, and much Mason hardscape is new enough that sealing is still preventive rather than remedial.
